Rats flourish almost everywhere in the world, and Scotland is no different, city buildings, town houses, village cottages and rural dwellings, all can become infested with rats.
Rats are always on the move, their population expands and they relocate into new areas, (someone's garden, home or business) bringing with them an abundance of parasites and microorganisms which can cause food poisoning and other serious illnesses, these are spread through their faeces, urine and bite.

Global warming is changing Scotland's climate, milder winters and longer summers benefit these pests. According to the National Pest Technicians Association's (NPTA) third Annual Rat Survey 2002, the UK Rat population has increased by 29% since 1998 when the first survey was undertaken.

Rats cause immense damage to food stuffs and buildings, through their gnawing, feeding and contamination. Rats can gnaw though electric cable insulation causing numerous fires or plastic pipes, causing leaks in central heating systems and water supplies.

All our work, including any emergency treatments, are carefully monitored to ensure positive results with the utmost care for animals, people and the environment.

Graham Environmental Services rat treatment starts with a thorough survey of the property and its surrounding ground. A survey will help gauge the level of any infestation, establish possible entry points into buildings and sheds, help recognise any potential dangers, such as gnawed electric wires, and is an important part of any successful professional rat control treatment.

Once the rat treatment has been implemented clients are consulted about bait box locations and other relevant matters, we also supply an advice sheet containing information about rats and the treatment being carried out. All our bait boxes are tamper proof and only approved professional rodenticides and equipment are used.

A standard single Rat treatment involves the following:

• Initial visit, survey and the start of the rat treatment.
• Follow-up visit 7 to 10 days later*, evaluation of the treatment's success, check for and remove bodies, remove baits and equipment if the treatment has been successful. If there is still evidence a further treatment will be carried out.

* Depending on the individual rat treatment requirements, follow-up visits time intervals my vary. All visits are arranged to suit clients.
